Every organisation has people who know the best way to do something: how to calm an angry customer, how to set up a supplier without a week of back and forth, how to get a failed release back on its feet. What they know travels badly. It lives in their heads, in a document few people read, or in a prompt someone wrote once and nobody can find.
AI agents could change that, and mostly haven’t. Each agent starts from its instructions and its model, and what one agent works out today is gone tomorrow, or locked inside one team’s set-up.
Skill Fabric is how Duplex turns what works into skills your whole business can rely on. A skill is made from work that reached its goal and was checked. It can be opened and inspected, shared with other teams once it is approved, watched in use and retired when it stops delivering, and it stays yours when you change models.
Work that reached its goal, and was checked, becomes a skill.
Made from work that reached its goal.
A skill in Duplex isn’t a clever prompt or a guess about what might work. It comes from work that succeeded and was checked: the delayed order that was delivered, the supplier that was set up, the release that was fixed. What Duplex keeps is the way the result was reached, in a form your agents can use again on the same kind of work.
Because skills come from verified work, they carry its discipline with them. A skill learned during a long job is kept once the job’s result is verified, and what was learned along approaches that were dropped is withdrawn. Your skills grow from what worked, not from everything that was tried.
And because every skill can be opened, nothing your agents rely on is a black box. Anyone can see what a skill does, when it applies, the knowledge it draws on and how it has performed since it was made.
Shared as far as you choose.
A skill one person’s agents have proved can be promoted to their team, and a team’s skill to the whole organisation, once it is approved. New members’ agents start with what their team and organisation have published, so nobody starts from zero.
Sharing never overrides judgement. Each team decides what it takes from the organisation, and each person what they take from the team. What is shared is published in versions, so a change to a shared skill is deliberate and traceable, and an old version can be retired.
The effect is simple to describe and hard to get any other way: good work spreads through the organisation instead of being rebuilt team by team.
Kept current in use.
Skills age. A process changes, a system is replaced, a policy is rewritten. A skill that was right last year can be quietly wrong now, and a library of stale skills is worse than none.
Duplex follows how each skill performs in real work. The skills that keep delivering are the ones your agents turn to, and a skill that stops delivering is retired. Your team can review every skill Duplex has and decide which ones stay.
Yours, whichever model you rent.
Skills live in Duplex, not inside a model. Change the model, the client or the vendor, and every skill stays, ready on the new model from the first request. What your organisation learns to do well becomes something you own, not a feature of someone else’s product.
Skill Fabric is one part of a larger whole. Duplex plans the work, weighs the options, decides within your rules, acts through your tools, checks the results and carries long work to its goal. Skill Fabric makes sure that what worked along the way is ready for the next goal like it.
Learning doesn’t replace the rest of the work. It makes the rest better every time the work succeeds, and with Skill Fabric, every team gains from what each one proves.
